Travel tips – Aeolians

When … We pick up the yachts on the afternoon of June 3, 2023
and drop them off on the morning of June 10.

Where … The yachts are in Marina Portorosa.

Getting there … Fly into Palermo, airport code PMO (or CTA). Stay a night or two in Palermo or near the marina to acclimate to the time change.
There is a train that runs between the two. It is not fast or consistent. Station is Punta Raisi near the marina.
Car rental for the whole week is not a bad way to go on this Adventure. It is a similar price as booking a car service each way. We’re hearing that IDP, International Drivers Permit is likely required to rent. You can get it from AAA (click for form) or NAC.

The Plan … We board the yachts June 3rd, 1800 or before. We sail this unique, exotic paradise for a week.
We depart the yachts June 10 by 0800. The yachts will be back at the marina the last night, the 9th. Early flights out on the 10th are possible if you have transport to the airport arranged. I arrive 2 hours before important flights.

Portorosa Marina Yachting
Via Prestipaolo SNC
98054 Furnari (ME)
2.5 hours from PMO.

There is space by the Yachting center to leave your bags. Please do not board the boats when you arrive, look for Tania and Woody for instructions. And to say Ciao! (hello and goodbye). Then pull up chairs at the bar/restaurant and chill. We’ll make sure the yachts check out and let you know when we’re ready to board.

At the base … Bar, Restaurants, Supermarket, Ship Chandler, Toilets and Showers.

Weather is on VHF channel 68. ‘bel tempo’ means good weather, listen for it.
