When …
We board our yachts on the afternoon of October 5, 2024.
On October 12, we disembark by 0830 on the morning.
Where …
The historic town of Palma, on the Isle of Mallorca, surrounds it’s own marina. The yachts are on two docks: the Real Club Nautico dock and the Muelle de la Lonja next door. They are 15 minutes from the airport. The yachts are near the impressive and massive Santa Maria Cathedral. We will let you know exactly where you board in your Final Info email.
Getting there …
Fly into Palm, Mallorca, Spain. Airport code is PMI. Stay a night or two in beautiful Palma to explore and acclimate to the time change.
If you are renting a car, we understand that you need an IDP, International Drivers Permit along with your valid driver’s license. You can get it from AAA (click for form) or NAC.
Location A: La Lonja – Muelle La Lonja.
Location B: Club Nautico – Muelle de Sant Pere.
I usually start my flight search on google.com/travel/flights then book directly through my preferred airline. I have been starting my hotel search on booking.com. I book directly through the property if they offer the same price.

The Plan …
We board the yachts on Saturday October 5. As always, we have paid for early departure. This means that we can usually board the boats earlier in the day, as soon as they are made perfect from the last charter. We charter new yachts as they are usually in better shape and more fun to be on and sail.
We spend a week exploring this unique, exotic set of islands by sail. We keep our itineraries loose so we can play the wind and catch local events. We do need a permit to see Cabrera so that day will be booked.
We disembark the yachts October 12 by 0830. The yachts will be back at the marina the night before, the 11th. Early flights out on the 12th are possible if you have transport to the airport arranged. I like to arrive at the airport 2 hours before important flights.
Arrival …
When you arrive at your dock on Palma, look for one of your captains. They will know when your yacht is ready to board. Please do not approach local staff, board the boats or put your stuff onboard; that will delay boarding. You can usually leave your bags by the yachting office if you need to. There is a small market on the Real dock and more in town. If it will be a while, pull up a chair at the closest bar/restaurant and chill. That is where you will find the captains between our check outs and briefings are done.
Having purchased early checkout, we can often get out of the harbor the first evening. If the yachts are ready and our crews are ontime.
The America’s Cup …
The finals of the 37th America’s Cup begin on October 12. AmericasCup.com. Tania and I at least are going over to Barcelona after our cruise to see a couple days of it. You can take an 8 hour ferry or … an easy hopper flight. Book on AirEuropa.com for like $35 + luggage. Tip: book your big, from US and then home flights separately from this hopper. Putting this hopper in the “multi city” mix costs more than booking direct through AirEuropa.
